What we treat
When a child does not understand
Receptive language is what your child takes in. A child who does not follow instructions may not be ignoring you. The words may not be landing.
We test understanding directly
We ask your child to do things, not to say things, so the result does not depend on speech.
Hearing comes first
If your child has not had a hearing check, we ask you to get one before we go further.
We change how the house talks
Shorter instructions, one step at a time, and a pause for the answer.
This page gives general information only. It is not a diagnosis. For your own child, see a registered speech-language therapist or a doctor.
