What you can do at home
These cost nothing and need no equipment. They do not replace an assessment.
Say less, wait longer
Cut your sentence short, then count to ten in your head. Many children answer in that gap.
Put the good things in sight, out of reach
A child who can reach everything has no reason to ask.
Add one word
When your child says "car", you say "big car". One word above their level, not five.
Narrate the routine
Bath time and meals repeat daily, so the same words come round again and again.
